What Says Paris

A sidewalk cafe?

The graceful aspect of Notre Dame by the Seine?

A memorable meal?

Well of course, Paris can be all of these.  But to me, nothing says Paris quite like green and gray metal barricades. They're almost as ubiquitous as croissants and seem to be as long lasting as many historical monuments.

Very true. Talk about an eye sore too!

Non, non! It's all about the lovely cafes, desserts and architecture!!

And do tell: where is that darling dessert from??

Sweet Freak: In some ways, I agree with you. In others, I think it's a thousand little things like the barricades that I'm going to be remembering when my Paris days are behind me.

The dessert was actually the second dessert (the sweets that came with the coffee) after my lunch last spring at Jules Verne.

A "second dessert"?! I love it. Jules Verne, added to the list of Parisian must-dos... and maybe I'll start noticing the green and gray barricades more too!

I could live with the barricades if "second desserts" are the norm! Just toss an extra macaron or three in with that coffee order, s'il vous plaît.

you wouldn't mind them so much if they were actually barricading something!....

Tee hee. I don't think they're something I outright notice as something that I might see in a movie or something and think "Yes! That IS Paris!"

Croquecamille: Exactly my point!
