Ciel Bleu

When I was a sophomore in college in Rhode Island, I had a roommate from Hawaii.  Despite having already spent a year in New England and thus presumably experienced in how to deal with cold weather, she could somehow never shake her childhood assumption that blue skies meant a perfect day for the beach.   On a January day, when the temperatures were frigid and a stiff wind was blowing out of the north, she would look out the window, see a crystal clear blue sky, and put on her flip flops.

When winter skies are blue in Paris, I'm never tempted to wear sandals.  Still, it is such a rare occurence that one really must take notice.

People do the same thing down here in Houston. Regardless of the temperature, blue skies = flip flops=complaining about how cold it is in January. Glad you are enjoying a clear day!

thanks for the blue sky...it's minus 20 here today...

Regrettably the blue sky (which I captured yesterday) was fleeting. Gray and rainy again today.

My weather-savvy, Chicago-bred kids know that the beautiful blue sky in winter comes with a very low temperature price tag....when it's cloudy and looks like snow it's never as cold (thanks to the clouds) as on those clear pristine blue winter days. Brrrrrrr.

How I love the bits of sunshine here in Paris. They are so precious!

I don't care how cold it gets in Paris, if the sky is blue it's OK by me; unfortunately it lasts only a New York minute. And my feet have been firmly encased in boots since October.

Sunny and mild in Berkeley, a wonderful welcome home for us!

Few citizens are happier to see the sun than Parisians.
